I am not sure the world needs another blog, or that I have anything important to add, but it looks cool, so in I go!

I am a father, a husband, and a pastor. Keeping all of that straight is difficult at times, but I try. Somedays are better than others, somedays are downright difficult. I have four kids, three girls and a boy, and my wife and I have been married for 14 years. All I really know is that life is difficult and if we want to survive it we need friends, faith, and family. I hope that through my comments on this blog you will find help with all three.

So grab your favorite beverage, (may I suggest a Starbucks Iced Vente Suger Free Vanilla Non-Fat Late or Diet Coke Zero) kick your feet up overlooking the great Rocky Mountains, and lets wait in great expectation to see what happens here!

Graham, you rock buddy! I am so glad you “jumped in” to cyberspace with a blog. I will be a frequent visitor. You may be surprised at how many people read blogs. At least the good ones. You have something to say, and people will listen. ~God bless.

great blog – however i cannot wait in great expectation with any of the beverages you suggest. i should think being fall and all a triple, venti pumpkin spice latte is in order or the tried and true triple, venti, upside down caramel macchiato would to the trick.

Graham, now we see you more often and we talk about all kinds of issues and “stuff”, but from this blog, we get to hear you ~ really hear what’s spinning around in that weird and wonderful little head of yours ~ awesome!

We learned some lessons on “stuff” by being in the AF–especially when we were not stationed stateside. One of the things about military moves, as opposed to corporate moves is that (according to rank) the ground is pretty level. In housing, you have the same floor plan as everyone elae in your “grade”. And if you are overseas, you have the same furniture too, so you learn to do creative accessorizing! When the BX or PX on base finally gets in a supply of white thread for example, you get on the phone and call your friends. Overseas, you live with the bare necessities from your “hold baggage” until your other “stuff” gets there a couple months later. In the meantime, your neighbors help you out with things you need. You sell your old clunker to the next guy coming in when you rotate back to the States. You even share the answer book to the local vehicle license tests, but that’s a secret. Maybe it’s still this way in rural America. Would that our neighborhoods could recapture neighborly values. Ah, the nostalgia for the old “barn raising days”!

so, as i said before it’s me, me, me, all the time. so, why wouldn’t i comment about me? you’re link to me in your blogroll doesn’t work. your friends can’t come visit me. it’s very sad – that they can’t link to me, not that i’ve checked it out and am now complaining about it…

Hi I tagged you.. 7 random things about you.. :-) have fun.. i do fear that tagging might be similar to jamming up peoples in boxes with forwarded emails. but it’s the first time i’ve been tagged and now i feel like i’m part of the cool group. when really, i’m probably part of the dorky group.

you are in the cool group, have no fear… I have no idea what being Tagged means though… Should I be watching for Forestry Service officials with a dart gun and a big orange earing? Or maybe they use GPS tracking collars now…

    Hi Graham!

I was just googling old names from the past and your website came up. Interesting that you also had a stint in Texas. So did I and came back as soon as I could. :) My husband was a graphic designer for Shepherd Ministries in Irving (Mark Matlock and Dawson McAllister’s gig). Anyway…I’d love to shoot the breeze in a longer email sometime. My sister (Heather) and brother (Seth) all live within 5 minutes of me here in Denver. In fact, Heather’s husband is the current pastor at Galilee! Funny, huh?

Anyway…Merry Christmas to you and your family!

    Graham,
It’s true, especially in Texas, that many people no longer write and etiquette seems a thing of the past but a handwritten not or letter is so personal. Showing you cared enough to take the time and effort to write. A friend in my graphology class was horrified when her grand-daughter (in Tx) told her she HAD to turn all her school work in printed from a word processoe or computer. The old penmanship lessons contained subtle messages for children as well as helping them learn to write neatly. Circle letters like the a and o represent the mouth and to close them meant do not talk unless called upon. A tightly closed o in particular meant keep your secrets to yourself. The t and d represent the self and a tall t or d stem showed pride. When loops are present in these letters it shows a sensitivity or worry and on the t it involves work and on the d the ego. A looped t is fear of failure and a looped d fear of ridicule. Once a shild can write without thinking about how to form each letter then the person’s personality starts to show up. This is why graphology is so facinating to me. Another thing I learned was during a study on writing with the non-dominant hand. It was jerky but legible but when I compared mine to an old handmade card my mom had saved it was almost identical to my first attemps at writing.

Hi Graham. The Christmas card I sent you and Trish was returned, so I googled your names to try and track you down. I got caught up on the events of last year and where you are now by reading parts of your blog. Say hi to Trish and have her email me, okay! Happy birthday to the girls, too. (14 tomorrow, I think?). Happy New Year! Jennifer

okay, so, i read your blog everyday and i think it’s time your wife started one. because as much as i like your blog and learn about leadership and stuff i really want to know what’s going on in your day to day family stuff. and don’t worry, i’d keep reading yours.

  19. 19 Graham March 7, 2008 at 11:09 pm

The leadership posts are fun! Dont you want to know how to lead all the Thai’s you run into better? Maybe someday you will be president and it will all be credited to the leadership friday posts! Although I do agree, Trish needs to start her own blog!

    Hey, Pastor P!

Tried to email you, but it bounced back for some reason. Maybe you could drop me a note so that I’ve got the latest and greatest.

I’ve been working on a new blog for children’s ministry this month. I’m posting all my favorite object lessons from days gone by (one per day, kinda).

Don’t know if it will be helpful to your volunteers, but they are welcome to check it out. They can find it at:

    http://teachthem.wordpress.com/

I’m posting the lessons, but they are probably easier to download of the “Lesson Download” page.

    Blessings….love you, man!
